Born in Genoa, Michele is a multi-talented sailor, capable of sailing in different boat classes and successfully covering all roles: he has been, in fact, bowman, skipper, trimmer and rigger in both buoy and offshore races. Seven times world champion in the Maxi, Maxi 72, RC 44 classes, he won the RORC 600 (in 2015 and 2017), the Transpac (2011) and the Middle Sea Race (2005-2013-2015). In 2009 he won the Louis Vuitton Trophy - Nice with Azzurra. At the end of the 36th America's Cup (where he was Boat Captain), Michele became the shore team manager of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, with whom he raced the 2007 and 2021 editions. The 2024 edition will be his third Cup campaign. In his spare time he practices Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, surfing and spearfishing.
