Patrizio Bertelli combines his entrepreneurial activity with cultural and sporting interests that he shares with Miuccia Prada: the Prada Foundation, inaugurated in 1993, and the “Luna Rossa” sailing team, founded in 1997 with its first challenge for the America's Cup in 2000. Since then the team has participated in four editions of the America’s Cup (2003, 2007, 2013, 2021), winning the Challenger Selection Series twice (Louis Vuitton Cup in 2000 and PRADA Cup in 2021) and also competing in the finals in 2007 and 2013. In 2021 Prada was Title and Presenting Sponsor of the 36th America's Cup presented by PRADA, while Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli was Challenger of Record. Having won the Challenger Selection Series – the “PRADA Cup” – the team faced Defender Emirates Team New Zealand in the final match, winning three races. It was the highest score ever obtained by an Italian boat in the history of the Cup and one of the best ever for a challenger who has not won the America's Cup. Barcelona 2024 will be the sixth America's Cup campaign for the Italian team.
