Born in Switzerland, Jean-Claude graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne. In his spare time during the studies, he developed a sailing simulator game. A keen sailor, he has won national and international championships in a family crew with his brothers and father. He joined the first Alinghi campaign as a sailor and software developer and participated in the subsequent campaigns in the design team. He went back to EPFL conducting a research project to develop an autopilot for an IMOCA boat in 2010. He joined Emirates Team New Zealand in 2012 developing the prestart and racing software and co-developed the simulator, autopilots and instrumentation system for the next editions. He has participated in 6 AC editions (2003, 2007 and 2010 Alinghi; 2013, 2017 and 2021 ETNZ) and has won the America's Cup 4 times (2003, 2010, 2017, 2021). The 2024 edition will be his 7th America’s Cup, the first one with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli.
