Max Sirena
Born in Rimini in 1971, Massimiliano “Max” Sirena is at his seventh America’s Cup challenge, two of which were winning campaigns.
The first win was in the 33rd America’s Cup edition where he was in charge of the mast wing project with BMW Oracle Racing. His second victory was in the 35th America’s Cup in Bermuda in 2017 with Emirates Team New Zealand.
Max was also the skipper in the Luna Rossa Extreme 40 campaigns in which he won the 2011 Extreme Sailing Series.
With team Luna Rossa he has participated in the challenges of 2000, winning the Louis Vuitton Cup, 2003 and 2007 in the role of mid-bowman. He took on the role of Skipper and Team Director for Luna Rossa during the 34th America’s Cup campaign held in San Francisco in 2013.
Today, always in the role of Skipper and Team Director, he leads team Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli in its challenge for the 36th America’s Cup that will take place in Auckland in 2021
